A New Chapter for Our Studio

Welcome to Foolwork Games, the new home of our studio.

For the past few years, many of you have known us as Foolworks Studios. That name was connected to our earliest experiments, prototypes and first serious attempts at turning ideas into playable projects. It represented a period in which we were still discovering what kind of studio we wanted to become and what type of experiences we most enjoyed creating.

Those early projects were valuable. They allowed us to test mechanics, learn new tools, improve our development process and understand how much work goes into creating even a relatively small game. They also made one thing increasingly clear: games were no longer one part of what we wanted to do. They had become the central focus.

As our ambitions grew and our projects became more structured, the old studio name began to feel less representative of that direction. We wanted an identity that immediately communicated what we create, while still retaining the slightly unconventional personality that has always been part of our work.

Today, we are officially introducing Foolwork Games.
The studio remains the same, but the direction is clearer than ever.

Why We Changed Our Name

Changing a studio name is not something we wanted to do without a clear reason. Foolworks Studios had history behind it, and it was connected to the period in which many of our first ideas were created. However, it also sounded broader and less focused than the studio we are building today.

Foolwork Games is simpler, stronger and more direct. It puts games at the centre of our identity and removes any uncertainty about what the studio exists to create.

The word “Foolwork” still reflects an important part of our personality. We enjoy taking ideas seriously without believing that every creative decision has to be overly serious. Games should have character. They should be allowed to feel unusual, playful and sometimes slightly ridiculous, as long as the experience itself remains carefully designed.

The word “Games” gives that personality a clear purpose. It creates a foundation that can support the mobile projects we are developing today, as well as larger or very different experiences we may choose to build in the future.

Build games we would love to play ourselves.

That sentence remains the simplest description of our approach. We do not want to build around trends alone or design systems purely because other games use them. We want to create experiences we genuinely enjoy testing, improving and returning to.

What Is Not Changing

A new name does not mean we are replacing the studio behind it. The projects and creative goals remain the same. The rebrand is intended to clarify our direction, not erase the work that came before it.

We will continue to work iteratively: build a system, test it, identify what does not work and improve it. We will continue to share development progress before everything is perfectly polished, because showing how a project evolves is far more interesting than only showing the final result.

We also intend to remain honest about the realities of independent game development. Features change. Visuals improve. Ideas that sound strong on paper may not survive testing. Release windows can move when a project needs more time. That process is not a sign that development has failed; it is part of building something properly.

Player-Focused Design

Systems should be understandable, rewarding and enjoyable during real play sessions—not only functional inside the editor.

Transparent Development

We will continue sharing screenshots, gameplay footage and honest updates while projects are still evolving.

Strong Visual Identity

Our games should be recognisable, readable and full of personality rather than feeling like anonymous templates.

Long-Term Improvement

Testing, feedback and revision will remain central to every project we develop.

A Completely New Website

Alongside the new identity, we have launched a completely redesigned website.

The previous site no longer reflected the quality or direction we wanted for the studio. The new website gives us a clearer place to introduce our projects, publish development updates and gradually build a permanent archive of the work taking place behind the scenes.

Rather than using social platforms as the only place for news, this website will become the central source for official Foolwork Games information. Social posts can disappear quickly in a timeline, while a development article can remain available and provide context long after it was first published.

The website will be used for several types of content:

  • Major development updates
  • New screenshots and gameplay footage
  • Feature and system breakdowns
  • Behind-the-scenes development notes
  • Release information and announcements
  • Future game and project reveals

As the studio grows, the website will grow with it. Some areas are intentionally simple at launch, but more project pages, media and information will be added over time.

Our Current Focus: Project Survivor

Our main development focus is currently Project Survivor, the working title of a sci-fi survival game being developed primarily for Android.

The game begins after the player crash-lands on a hostile alien world. With a damaged ship and limited resources, the player must explore the environment, recover essential components, improve their combat capabilities and survive increasingly dangerous alien creatures.

The project combines accessible runs with longer-term progression. Individual missions are designed to be easy to start, while systems such as missions, upgrades, cosmetics, equipment and commander progression give players reasons to continue developing their character over time.

Development has already moved well beyond the earliest prototype stage. Core movement, combat, enemies, upgrades, ship repair, world events and progression systems are being implemented and refined. At the same time, we are continuing to improve the visual presentation, user interface, performance and overall feel of the game.

Explore

Move beyond the crash site to discover resources, objectives, landmarks and dangerous encounters.

Survive

Fight hostile alien creatures while managing positioning, upgrades and limited opportunities.

Repair

Recover the components required to restore the crashed ship and complete the main objective.

Progress

Unlock permanent rewards, develop the commander and collect cosmetic items between missions.

Current release target: Project Survivor is being developed toward a planned release window in Q3–Q4 2026.

Building for the Future

Project Survivor is our current priority, but Foolwork Games is intended to be a long-term studio rather than the name of a single project.

We have ideas for different genres, platforms and visual styles. Some may eventually become full projects, while others will remain experiments that help us learn something new. For now, however, our focus is on giving Project Survivor the time and attention it needs.

Independent development means progress is often made one system, one model and one improvement at a time. The work may not always be visible immediately, but every new build represents another step toward a more complete game and a stronger studio foundation.

We look forward to sharing that process openly. Future posts will include new screenshots, gameplay footage, feature explanations and more detailed development updates as the project continues to evolve.

Whether you followed us during the earliest Foolworks Studios experiments or have only just discovered our work, thank you for being here.

This rebrand marks the beginning of a clearer and more focused chapter for the studio. There is still a great deal to build, but we are excited about the direction ahead.
